FAQ’s
At Bo’s Off-road Tours, we specialize in providing private guided tours at Windrock. We will take you on an unforgettable journey through the rugged terrain, providing you with a personalized experience that’s tailored to your interests and skill level. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced off-roader, our private tours offer a unique opportunity to explore the natural beauty of the area and create lasting memories with your friends and family.

Will there be other people/rigs on our tour?
No. This is a private tour for just you (or with your own group). We prefer it this way so that you (and your group) will receive a customized route and the best experience.
How much does the tour cost?
$160+tax per rig. If you have more than 10 in your group, please contact us for a quote.
You can book multiple days.
Tours will last approximately 5-6 hours – start at 9am at the General Store and have you back by 2-3pm.
You can check our availability online.
WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE that occurs to you or your vehicles. You are taking it at your OWN risk. Your safety is our priority.
Is there a minimum number of rigs for the tour?
No. We know that sometimes plans fall through with friends or you have no one to ride with. We will take 1-10 rigs at a time. If there are more than 10, we would like to discuss types of rigs and experience level before booking. Please contact us if you have more than 10 rigs in your group and would like a quote.
How much are Windrock passes?
Adult passes start at $30+ per day and under 16 start at $13+ per day. EACH person must have a pass. You can purchase passes online or in the store. You must physically pick up your passes in the General Store before our tour begins. Hint: If you plan a visit for more than 2-3 days, an annual pass might be cheaper.
What kind of trails will we go on and not go on?
We will plan a route based on your rig and experience. Whether you’re new to Windrock or off-roading in general, we’ll make sure the tour matches your skill level. Your safety and enjoyment are our top priorities.
If, at any point, you do not feel comfortable on ANY trail, we will take a bypass if it’s available. We will also help guide you through different lines that is safe for you and your rig. You WILL learn what YOU and your rig are capable of!
There are a few black black diamond trails that we will NOT take you on.
We can take you on most blacks on SXS or Jeep/4×4 tours. Trail 15 will only be on Jeep/4×4 tours. 15 is the only double black diamond trail we will go on.
This list will be subject to change at ANY given time, as we know the trails and conditions.
As always, your safety and enjoyment are our top priorities.
Anything we need to bring or be prepared for?
Lunch, snacks, drinks. Full gas tank (gas is available at the General Store). Do NOT bring alcohol or drugs. We will end the tour immediately with no refunds.
Depending on where you are staying, you can also get gas at Ginger’s Deli or Brushy Mountain Market and Gas in Petros.
Weather: This is east Tennessee. Weather can be unpredictable. The weatherperson/app will be WRONG. 4% chance of rain means that it might start raining at 3pm and last until 2am with severe thunderstorm warnings, or NOT rain at all. During the winter, it might be icy and have snow up in the mountains. If severe weather occurs the day of your trip and we have to cancel, we will either refund your money or use as a credit for a future day.
Not a requirement, but a suggestion: Winch, tow strap, spare tire, or tire plugs.
Do I need a map?
Highly recommended to buy a paper map at the General Store ($7) or the Windrock app (available for a week or annual). We do not expect you to know all the trails and how to get there, but just in case, we would like you to know WHERE you are at.
Cell signal is non-existent to weak, so we would also recommend downloading an offline map through Google.
What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?
CANCELLATION POLICY: If you cancel at least 14 day(s) in advance of the scheduled departure, there is a $50 cancellation fee. If you cancel between 8 and 13 day(s) in advance of the scheduled departure, there is a 50% cancellation fee. If you cancel within 7 day(s) of the scheduled departure, there is a 100% cancellation fee. You may also use as a credit for future bookings.
REFUNDS: While on your tour, if your vehicle breaks for any reason, there are no refunds for that day. If you book multiple days and your rig cannot be fixed, you may use the additional days as a credit for future bookings.
Are you insured?
Yes, we are! Any company that does business on Windrock Property must be insured.
If you are still doing research on a tour guide, please make sure that your guide is insured and approved by Windrock.
Do you have any recommendations on where to stay?
We recommend staying anywhere near Windrock Road or Hoskins Gap Road. You can stay at Windrock Park (primitive camping, cabins of all sizes in/outside of the park, RV), Windrock Gap campground (regular sites, cabins, RV), or the various Airbnb/VRBO/private rentals in the area.
If you want to ride your rig to the park and you are staying in an Airbnb/VRBO/private rental, PLEASE make sure that you can ride LEGALLY to Windrock.
Do you have any recommendations on where to rent a SXS?
Do you need to rent a SXS? Just let us know on the booking form and we will recommend a company!
What is your breakdown & recovery policy?
In the event your rig experiences a mechanical issue or breakdown during one of our rides, the following policy applies:
Trailside Assistance
Our team will make reasonable efforts to assist with basic troubleshooting, minor repairs, or moving your rig to a safe location on the trail whenever possible.
Recovery Limitations
While we will do our best to help, we cannot guarantee that every breakdown can be repaired or recovered using available equipment. If your rig cannot be safely repaired, moved, or recovered by our team, the owner/operator is responsible for arranging professional recovery services.
Recovery Costs
Any costs associated with towing, trail recovery, transportation, repairs, or other recovery-related services beyond the assistance provided by our team are the sole responsibility of the rig owner/operator.
Recovery Service Coordination
If needed, we can provide recommendations for local recovery providers or assist with making contact. However, all arrangements, scheduling, and payment obligations remain the responsibility of the owner/operator.
Owner Responsibility
By participating in our rides, you acknowledge and accept responsibility for any expenses related to the recovery, towing, repair, or transportation of your rig should a breakdown occur.
This policy helps ensure the safety of all participants while minimizing disruptions to the ride. We strongly encourage all participants to inspect and maintain their rig prior to arrival to reduce the likelihood of mechanical issues on the trail.
